Continuing the series of webinars focusing on Brazil, iGB, from Clarion, will hold this Tuesday (28) from 2 pm (Brasília time), another meeting with sector leaders to discuss the theme “The power of player verification: combating fraud in Brazil.”
The event is sponsored by IDNow, a global identity verification services company, and supported by Games Magazine Brasil (GMB). The webinar will bring live some important insights into how it is possible, through identity verification and validation, to combat fraud in the iGaming segment.
Participating in the meeting are Francisco Martins (IDnow), Thomas Carvalhaes (Vaidebob), Valter Delfraro Jr. (GLI) and Tiago Toscano (Esportes da Sorte), moderated by Gildo Mazza, from GMB.
In the Latin American market, understanding the different levels of compliance requirements is a minefield, even for the most established operators. In Brazil especially, despite being a potentially lucrative market, the industry is still trying to deal with the country's regulatory and compliance requirements.
When focusing on KYC and RegTech needs, it is more important than ever that operators get it right when entering the Brazilian market. To facilitate this, the panel of leading experts in the LatAm market will come together to discuss simple and easy-to-implement strategies and techniques.
When commenting on the importance of the webinar, on the eve of iGaming regulation in Brazil, Thomas Carvalhaes, director of Vaidebob, recalls that “especially due to the abuses that are committed by malicious users, discussing the topic and finding the best way to mitigate such problems is fundamental.”
He remembers that bookmakers are victims of bonus abuse and having the necessary tools provides the security so that these risks can be minimized. “Therefore, we expect an identity verification and validation service provider to be aware of the most modern market practices, to be agile and to have an API capable of quickly validating a user's data based on the CPF with the Federal Revenue Service”.
According to Thomas, “to protect ourselves against abusive practices, it is important to know the market and have good monitoring tools to mitigate problems and abuses.”
In the same sense, Tiago Toscano, CIO of Esportes da Sorte, states that “the topic of fraud is increasingly important, as the increase in operators and the lack of control have created a common sense of weak control in the market. With regulation, we must correct the course, creating additional methods to control and restrict fraudulent users, ensuring greater security for all actors involved.”
The Esportes da Sorte executive said that during the webinar he will focus his participation on highlighting the most common types of fraud in the Brazilian market, the importance of operators, method and payment companies and KYC verification/validation companies being together in this process to ensure become stronger in combating fraud.
For him, given the great expansion of the market, “any additional factor to the registration could impact the entry of new players in the segment. Therefore, tools with less user interaction should be implemented. The big challenge is how to do this jointly and effectively.”
Valter Delfraro Jr., business development and government relations executive at GLI, states that “it is extremely important to debate all topics that bring security to this industry. The iGB and Clarion initiative to promote this debate contributes greatly to the moment we are experiencing in Brazil.”
“Although any time is opportune to discuss topics of this relevance, this moment is very propitious, since we are constantly talking and discussing all the points that should be considered essential in the regulatory process,” he reinforced.
He also recalled that the GLI-19 and GLI 33 standards themselves guide that all certification must have double validation to guarantee even greater security and reliability in the data.
IDnow has been working with regulatory bodies in Europe for almost 10 years, guiding them to pass regulations that help and do not hinder the market. IDNow's international sales manager, Francisco Martins, highlights the timing of the webinar:
“The Brazilian market is opening up to the world and also regularizing. It is extremely important that the discussion about fraud gains strength in the media because it is already a topic that worries operators and players.”
“It is one of our expectations that this webinar will reach not only operators, but also the regulatory class. Here in Europe and the UK we work together with regulatory bodies and our webinars and debates not only reach them, but also involve them.”
