Sports law forum will debate betting and match-fixing in football

The 19th Brazilian Sports Law Forum is scheduled for December 14th and 15th, in São Paulo, organized by the Brazilian Institute of Sports Law (IBDD) and the São Paulo Lawyers Association (AASP). On the second day, the panel “Gaming off the pitch: betting, manipulation and football as entertainment” will feature José Francisco Manssur, advisor to the Ministry of Finance and responsible for regulating betting in Brazil.

The Brazilian Institute of Sports Law (IBDD) and the São Paulo Lawyers Association (AASP) are promoting the 19th Brazilian Sports Law Forum. Aimed at the sports law ecosystem, the meeting opened its window to the discussion of sports betting.

On the second day of the event (15th) at 9 am, a panel is scheduled with the theme “Gaming off the pitch: betting, manipulation and football as entertainment”. In it, lawyer Adriene Nassen, director of IBDD, will coordinate the panel, which will have the following panelists:

  • Rafael Marcondes (Chief Legal Officer of Rei do Pitaco)
     
  • Victor Targino (Lawyer and legal consultant – eSports)
     
  • José Francisco Manssur (Special Advisor to the Ministry of Finance)
     
  • Mariana Chamelette (Vice-President of IBDD)

José Francisco Manssur's speeches are increasingly expected and, given the imminent regulation of sports betting in Brazil by the National Congress, the special advisor to the Ministry of Finance should bring to debate not only the topic of sports betting, but the latest updates regarding to ordinances and other regulations to be issued by the Treasury.

The meeting will also debate the General Sports Law, technical issues on combating doping, public policies in sport, racial discrimination and other topics linked to the football market.

The Forum, lasting 16 hours, will be held at the new AASP headquarters at Alameda Santos, 2159 – 5th floor, São Paulo/SP.
