JD Duarte, CEO of Betcris

"In 2024, my mission is to improve communication between industry operators and regulators"

The SBC Summit Latinoamérica is one of the most notable events for high-level executives in the region's gaming industry. Betcris, a leading betting brand in Central America and with a strong presence in other countries, once again sponsored the fair in Miami. Its CEO, JD Duarte, talked to GMB about the event, regulations in Latin American markets and the importance of maintaining a good dialogue with those responsible for this process in each of them.

Betcris is one of the most established gaming and betting brands in Central America. Headquartered in Costa Rica, the operator has achieved a large market share in eight countries in the region, where it also has prominent sponsorship agreements, such as with the Guatemalan National Football League and a strategic partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB), between others.

For this reason, the brand also stands out at international industry events, as a sponsor and with the presence of its executives on panels to share knowledge and experience.

"For us, being at SBC LatAm is extremely important. We decided to sponsor this event for the third consecutive year, as it is vital. Most of the region's decision makers meet here," says Betcris CEO, JD Duarte, one of the most important and respected pioneering executives in Latin America.

"We have regulators, suppliers, affiliates, and along with them is the high-level event organized by SBC. This allows us, everyone who participates, to connect with important people and then turn that into great opportunities for business," adds Duarte in an exclusive interview with Games Magazine Brasil at his booth at the event in Miami, Florida.

JD Duarte shared a panel with other industry experts where they examined how the entry of international operators into the region, Latin America's distinct turnaround of traditional gaming verticals by local operators, and the multitude of emerging markets are facilitating the perfect environment for innovation.

For him, "Latin America has always been special. Each country has its peculiarities and several of them are at different stages of regulation. The good thing is that they are taking the issue of the gaming industry seriously, whether with sports betting or other products.”

On the eve of the end of the year and looking ahead to 2024, Duarte was emphatic about his main objective: "One of my main missions for 2024 is to ensure that there is good communication and opportunities to transmit knowledge to those who make decisions about how to regulate the industry."

"I believe that the most important thing now is to have good communication with regulators. This way, we can have a healthy environment that promotes the adequate development of our activity and legal gambling," concludes the CEO of Betcris.
