"Genius Sports technology is a new era in betting and is ready to be delivered to Brazil"

Guilherme Buso, Senior Account Manager for Sports and Betting at Genius Sports, attended SBC Miami with a large team of professionals to keep up with the latest technology trends. The company's top executive in Brazil spoke exclusively to GMB and emphasized the importance of technology in engaging bettors, ensuring sports integrity, and providing engagement tools for operators.'

Genius Sports, the official partner for data, technology, and commerce powering the ecosystem that connects sports, betting, and media, sent a large team to Miami to keep up with updates in the Latin American gaming and betting market. During the event, GMB had the opportunity to conduct a quick interview with the company's top executive operating in Brazil.

GMB – What does an event like SBC Miami represent in terms of showcasing the strength of the gaming industry?
Guilherme Buso –
It's a pleasure to speak with you again. I believe this is a very opportune moment for Brazil, full of opportunities. So, being here, participating in the event, meeting colleagues, discussing new possibilities and business opportunities for Genius Sports is always very important. We also participated in a panel to discuss integrity and how Genius Sports conducts strong monitoring and education work in sports, which is essential in this industry. We are very happy to be back at SBC in Miami and to contribute to the market and strengthen the industry in Brazil.

Genius Sports has a calling to serve players worldwide with data integrity issues. What does this mean for the company when looking at the Brazilian market?
It's one of the most important pillars. It's not just about thinking of sports betting as a service provided to the end user. We must be concerned with the fundamental foundation, which is the sport itself. Contributing to sports is one of Genius's pillars, whether through technology or through the integrity service we offer to sports, as well as awareness. This year, we helped establish the Brazilian Association for the Defense of Sports Integrity and have been directly contributing to clubs and federations in various sports.

We must not forget this. Sports betting is fundamentally the work and data taken directly from the field. Therefore, it's important to work together with the sports community, not just on the technology for betting.

When we talk about technology for betting, this involves data collection, including with Second Spectrum. I would like you to talk a bit about what this represents in terms of adding information with technology.
Exactly, we are now introducing something new that was announced in Las Vegas, Bet Vision. It's a pioneering initiative in partnership with the NFL, where the integration of sports betting is seamlessly and intuitively integrated into the streaming experience. We are offering a product that is currently only available in American football and the NFL, but the trend is for it to expand to other sports. We believe this will represent a new era in technology and services for betting users.

Second Spectrum allows us to gather more data on the sidelines and use augmented reality in broadcasts. This enables real-time visualization of player movements, pitch speeds, the number of yards covered, all with engagement. Augmented reality allows users not only to bet but also to have fun and be part of the sports world, involving technology, a passion for sports, and of course, a love for sports betting.

In the end, this accurately collected data by Second Spectrum helps bettors better understand what is happening. They can see player performance, analyze statistics, and, with augmented reality, visualize a player's speed in a specific situation. This technology represents a new era in sports betting, with an ecosystem ready to be delivered to Brazil.

Is the service also being offered in Brazil?
We have been expanding our presence on platforms and betting houses in Brazil, and we are planning to continue this growth in 2024, bringing Second Spectrum to sports competitions in the country, both for betting and for engagement and performance technology. Our commitment is to continue growing and contributing to the Brazilian market.
