National Association of Games and Lotteries welcomes bill approval, regrets online gaming exclusion

The market was taken by surprise with the exclusion of online casinos from the bill that regulates sports betting. In an official note, the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) highlights progress in approving Senator Angelo Coronel's report, but says that the result was not what was expected due to the exclusion of online gaming. “Ultimately, leave this significant tax collection outside the law and allow this important segment to continue operating outside the rules, with all the resulting effects.”

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF GAMES AND LOTTERIES (ANJL)

The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) has been following the development of Bill 3626-2023 for months, which deals with the Regulation of Sports Betting and online gaming. Today, in the Federal Senate, a vote took place on the Bill examined in light of the report by Senator Ângelo Coronel.

The approval of the report, almost in its entirety, was a source of satisfaction among the members of the Association. The work carried out by Senator Coronel was exemplary in consulting and understanding the market, its virtues and its problems, seeking, through clear rules, to establish a good regime of standards and precepts that organize the sector.

The result was not what was expected, because in a vote by the Senate Plenary it was decided to exclude online gaming. Which means, ultimately, leaving this significant tax collection out of the law and even more: allowing this important and majority market segment to continue operating outside the rules established by the Ministry of Finance, with all the resulting effects.

ANJL hopes that the Chamber of Deputies corrects this omission by the Federal Senate, also bringing online gaming into the realm of legality and good regulation.

Launched in March 2023, the National Association of Games and Lotteries defends the interests of its members, the sector and responsible and honest gaming, always guided by encouraging sport, betting security and contributing to the country's economic development.

Members include GaleraBet/PlayTech, Kaizen, Betano, Hebara, F12, PagBet, BetNacional, Mr. Jack, Primtemps, BetFast, Aposta Ganha, Liderança Capitalização, and Parismatch.
