Ronan Moreira has been at Loteria Mineira since 2011, where he held several board positions. Graduated in Law and Business Administration, with an MBA in Business Logistics, he has worked in several private companies.
During his demonstration at the Legislative Assembly, he explained that the proceeds from the Loteria Mineira are intended to finance social programs.
“In 2022, revenue from gaming operations totaled R$24.5 million, while expenses totaled R$6.8 million,” he informed deputies.
According to him, this result should improve with the resumption of the commercialization of Raspadinha®, whose exploration contract foresees total revenue of R$5 billion, with a minimum transfer of R$500 million to Loteria Mineira.
Representative Alencar da Silveira Jr. (PDT) asked questions about the possibility of bidding for the exploration of sports betting, after the approval of the regulation of this type of game by the National Congress. The parliamentarian defended that the market should be opened to as many competitors as possible.
Ronan Moreira guaranteed to be attentive to legalizing the maximum number of digital betting platforms possible in Minas Gerais. But he considered that the regulation of these games is still being discussed in the Federal Senate.
According to him, there are around 3,000 betting sites operating in Brazil, many of them based outside the country, without paying taxes, and, sometimes, without even paying the prizes owed to bettors.
