The meeting, to be promoted by the São Paulo Partnership Secretariat, aims to present to society the plan for granting lottery services (specific, sports and numerical) to the private sector. At the same time, it intends to gather from market players the best way to conduct future bidding.
A year ago, São Paulo decided, after listening to market players, to put the São Paulo State Lottery bid up for auction, with an initial value of over R$906 million (US$ 185m). After back and forth and several actions at the State Court of Auditors, the process was interrupted.
At the time, the government intended to grant the State Lottery to just one operator, which displeased several actors in the local and international lottery scene, which is why the process was suspended.
Now, the government is returning to the topic and will hold a public hearing on December 21st in which it will present the new model to society and listen to sector representatives regarding the best way of operating.
In the Notice of Hearing published in the Official State Gazette this Friday (8), the Partnerships Secretariat indicates that it is continuing the same initial process, which was already included in the State Privatization Program and which was the objective of meetings and hearings throughout 2021 and early 2022.
For an oral statement at the Public Hearing (in person or via videoconference), interested parties must register using the form available here, between December 11, 2023 and December 18, 2023.
