The government of the State of Paraná decided to suspend the tender for the creation of the platform that will control Lotepar's lottery activities, including sports betting, to be awarded to the private sector. The Executive identified the need to correct and adapt the Public Notice to good market practices. The total estimated value of the contract is R$232 million (US$ 45m).
The information on the suspension of the event was published by Decon – Department of Logistics for Public Procurement.
The concession, via accreditation of multiple concessionaires in free competition, will be for a period of 10 years, extendable for an equal period. Each company contemplated with the concession must have at least three physical stores destined to capture sports betting.
A market study carried out by Lotepar conservatively estimated that the segment has the potential to raise around R$ 230 million (US$ 44m) annually in fixed-quota sports betting activities alone. In addition, there will be normal lottery exploration with generic bets.
Even with the temporary suspension of the bidding for the platform, the government of Paraná promotes this Tuesday (14), a public hearing, to listen to society and the market about the concession of sports betting in the State.
