Nikolakopoulos takes on the role having served as deputy CEO of the core Intralot business and on its board since 2019. He joined Intralot in 2007 and held a number of other senior roles across the group, such as group chief operating officer and group Chief Commercial Officer.
Prior to this, he worked in management and director roles with SingularLogic, Microsoft and Bull Consulting.
Nikolakopoulos replaces Byron Boothe as CEO of Intralot Inc., though Boothe will remain as a member of the subsidiary’s board of directors and serve as an advisor to management.
Intralot Group Chairman and CEO, Sokratis Kokkalis, thanked the outgoing CEO Byron Boothe for his longtime contribution to the growth of the company in the United States, and wished Nikolakopoulos every success in his new role.
With Nikolakopoulos to step down from the core Intralot board in line with his new role in the US, the board now comprises 14 members including chairman and CEO Sokratis Kokkalis and vice-chairman Constantinos Antonopoulos, a non-executive member.
The new appointment comes on the back of Intralot in December setting out plans to ramp up online and US expansion following a positive nine-month period through to the end of September last year.
Intralot already offers online sports betting in Washington DC, providing technology for the DC Lottery’s Gambet product. However, Gambet remains some way off the pace of market leader Caesars.
