PP leaders Ciro Nogueira and Arthur Lira will travel with Antônio de Rueda, from União Brasil, to Las Vegas, during Carnival.
In the political arena, the joint trip is seen as a sign that the rapprochement between PP and União Brasil is taking big steps towards becoming official.
Ever closer, Ciro Nogueira and Antônio de Rueda had already watched World Cup games together in Qatar.
PP and União Brasil one step away from forming largest bench in the Chamber
After negotiating for months, federal deputies Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI) and Luciano Bivar (União-PE), presidents of the PP and União Brasil, are close to closing an agreement for the two political parties to form part of a federation.
According to PP sources heard by Oeste, there would be "very little" left for the conclusion of the agreement between the parties. The merger should be confirmed in March, a little after Carnival.
The agreement will allow the parties to maintain their initial structures, but unite in a consortium that obliges them to have the same position in the National Congress.
If it comes to fruition, the party federation will represent the largest bench in the Chamber, with 108 federal deputies, and the second largest in the Senate, with 15 parliamentarians in the House.
With this move, the federation will have more bargaining power for spaces on the Esplanade of Ministries. União Brasil already commands three portfolios: Communication, Tourism and National Integration. But the party also intends to command local authorities such as Codevasf and Sudene.
The merger should also facilitate a rapprochement between Nogueira and Lula’s government. The parliamentarian participated in the campaign of former president Jair Bolsonaro in the race for the presidency of the Republic in 2022.
