“BMM will have a laboratory in Brazil and follow trends of iGaming throughout Latin America”

BMM Testlabs was once again present at ICE London to showcase its product/service testing and certification solutions to the global gaming market. In an exclusive conversation with GMB, Marzia Turrini, VP LatAm and Europe, highlighted progress in the regulation of new jurisdictions, including Brazil. “We are ready to meet the country's demands, where we will have a local laboratory and team,” she says.

GMB – Once again at the London Fair, how do you evaluate your participation in ICE London?
Marzia Turrini
– This fair is fantastic and the first one after the pandemic. We are delighted by the public and interest in our solutions as we return to the pre-covid season.

What's new from BMM at ICE London?
BMM is a laboratory for certification, compliance and many services for operators, suppliers and regulators. At the fair, we are highlighting the launch of our new divisions, which are Big Cyber, which specializes in the area of cyber security, and RG24seven, a concept much more focused on responsible gaming and actions aimed at protecting the player.

The issue of cyber security is very important, as it is very sensitive to online operations!
True, and not just in the field of iGaming, but in all sectors. On the agenda of boards of directors in all industries, cybersecurity is top of mind. There are more cases of cyber-attacks every day and it is super important to protect yourself and understand that 24/7 monitoring is essential. It won't prevent it, as this happens, but it is possible to control and prepare for defense when an attack is detected.

The topic of cyber security, anyway, is very relevant in the gaming sector and it is where we are focusing, to help operators, B2B providers, online and face-to-face gaming, to be safer and protect their companies and players.

You have many customers in Latin America. How were the contacts with the regional players?
There are many clients from Latin America in London and it was a pleasure to be with them. Evidently there is a lot of talk about Brazil and everyone is waiting for the opening of the market. We are already prepared and, the day that happens, we will have BMM in Brazil to enter and offer reliability and security to the country, as we do in Europe and the rest of the world.

Are you following everything that happens in terms of regulation?
Yes. We are up to date with what is happening. We know that some steps are missing, but so far what has been done in terms of regulation is adequate. That is, it is protecting the player and at the same time it will help the industry, without barriers to operate correctly in the market, as happened in some jurisdictions.

What are BMM's plans for 2023 and especially for Brazil?
As I said, for us - as well as for the entire gaming industry - Brazil will be the number one priority. It will be one of the most important markets for the industry. Therefore, we are working to have a laboratory in Brazil and a strong local presence. As for general plans, we are present all over the world and our plan is to grow with the industry, having licenses and accreditations in any jurisdictions that open up.

There is a lot of interest about what is going to happen in Peru, Chile and Uruguay, who are working to regulate online gambling and we expect that to happen between this year and 2024. But there are other markets that are also working on this, such as Bolivia, Ecuador, Dominican Republic and Paraguay. In other words, we expect a lot of growth in the Latin American region.
