There were odd bets on the possibility of Iranduba losing by three or more goals, in addition to the total goals in the game passing five. "It is possible that Iranduba was involved in the potential manipulation of the match," concluded the CBF in the report.
The club was relegated and is suspended from Amazonian football for two years. It also has to pay a fine of R$ 100,000 (US$ 19,200), according to an announcement by the president of the FAF, Ednaílson Rozenha.
Suspect part of betting and team performance
There was a suspicious volume of bets deemed "completely unreasonable" by the CBF investigation. "Bets in favor of at least four goals proved too robust," the report reads. Bookmakers then adjusted the market line for total goals, but the betting did not stop. Until then, Iranduba had only conceded three goals in three rounds.
The team's performance was also seen as suspicious. "Incidents of irregular play were observed on the pitch during this game," the document reads. There are five examples: an absurd goalkeeper mistake; a defense duo marking failure; slow reaction to a shot inside the area; and another goalkeeper failure, this one from the substitute who had entered at halftime.
Team was already suspected in another game
Iranduba had previously been implicated in match-fixing in 2021, according to the report. It was in a match against Penarol EC, for the Amazonense that year. There were bets that Iranduba would lose by at least four goals, with a total of five in the game. The score, however, was 3-0.
CBF conclusion
"This game raises a credible level of concern from an integrity perspective due to the strong bets in favor of EC Iranduba Amazônia's team losing the match by at least three goals, and that at least five goals would be scored in total. Based on the available information, it is possible that EC Iranduba Amazônia is involved in the potential manipulation of the match," summarizes the document that the CBF sent to the Amazonense Football Federation.
