José Francisco Manssur, adviser to the Special Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance, responsible for forwarding the regulation of sports betting in Brazil, was also present at the meeting.
Among the parliamentarians present were senators Rogério Carvalho and Rodrigo Cunha, in addition to federal deputies Daniel Freitas, Pedro Paulo and Felipe Carreras, rapporteur for Bill 442/91 approved in the Chamber in 2022 and awaiting rite to be discussed in the Senate.
From the sports betting sector, representatives from Betano (Alexandre Fonseca, Júlio Iglesias Hernando and Ioannis Spanoudakis), Conta Zap and Zap Bets (Roberto Campos Marinho Filho), Betnacional (Bernardo Freire), Galera.bet (Saul Valt and Marcos Sabiá), Vai de Bet (José André da Rocha Neto) and F12 (Marcelo Moreira Seiroz).
“The Association was created to be the interlocutor of the areas of lotteries, fantasy games, games and sports betting with the government and Congress, especially at this time when a Provisional Measure is finalizing in the Ministry of Finance to regulate sports betting in Brazil. For this reason, we will receive any company that intends to work in the regulated market as partners of our entity, which is from the entire sector,” says André Feldman, president of ANJL.
Feldman himself is a representative of Caesars Entertainment and the entity's vice-president is none other than Alexandre Fonseca, country manager Brazil of Betano, a Greek company and one of the largest in the world in the sports betting segment.
These executives were, on the same day, at the Ministry of Finance, in a meeting with Fernando Haddad, when he explained to the portfolio holder all the dynamics of the sports betting sector.
At the meeting, they were informed that the Provisional Measure that will regulate sports betting is ready, lacking only details regarding the tax rates to be applied for it to be signed by President Lula, which could happen soon after his return from his trip to China next week.
