It is curious how the betting market has evolved so quickly. For a few years now, what was of paramount importance to the Brazilian gambler has become less relevant, and what was less relevant has become essential.
When I started betting “16 years ago”, we obviously had very few bookmaker options, and with that, we had very similar products and whenever new options appeared, the same trend was usually followed, that is: Template similar/equal, odds very close to each other, products with the same number of markets, identical payment methods.
The evolution and growth of the sector in Brazil and in the world has made new groups and companies part of the circuit, and with that, competition has given rise to a series of new options for the public that consumes sports betting. In this environment, new patterns emerged, new modalities, from a great differentiation of market types, Asian vs European lines, liquidity, gamefication format (Freebets, Bonus and more derivative promos), and many, many things that undoubtedly made the market create products from specific niches.
Today, the sports betting sector (now talking about the hard user public), the one who consumes bets on a daily basis, can easily distinguish a much greater level of selectivity. I really like to say that there are “shelves”, and the bookies are part of the first, second, third and maybe a fourth shelf.
Far be it from me to separate here which bookie is on which shelf, it would not be ethical and much less would I have such power to do so, but I can easily see in my followers, students and friends the exact VALUE they are looking for when associating their account with some betting house, and see the differences:
In the past, the public did not care about the difference in ODDS. If a site paid 1.90 in a market of over 2.5, and the other paid 1.80, but this second one, despite a lower price, offered better navigation, for example, there was this user, preferring more fluid navigation than prices.
The change, for me, today is clear due to the growth of the stakes. There is also a significant educational growth in teaching the bettor that 0.10 ticks of odd is superior to a cute template for example, and today with the ease of boosting content and making the message reach the final consumer more easily, it is a guarantee factor of shelf number 1 have more odds than a beautiful website.
Obviously, there will always be a niche that is recreational enough to simply bet and cheer, but I can assure you that with each passing day, this “lead”, sees the universe of betting with different eyes, and goes through a narrower funnel following an educational message of value for money.
Another very relevant point is the transparency of the bookmaker in relation to payment delays, KYC processes, bet updates, etc. In the past, you had much more patience in receiving your withdrawal, as well as seeing the money from the deposit fall into your account (who doesn't remember that a bank slip took 48 hours to clear?).
Nowadays, with the speed of things, no matter how good a bookmaker is, if it does not meet these requirements with some speed, and especially, if it does not OFFER decent, humanized support that speaks the same language as its bettor, it will never be considered a top bookie from shelf 1.
Whatsapp, telegram and other media groups have enough volume and strength to "burn" the operator who does not comply with good gaming policies. The bettor, TODAY, is more demanding, and knows that he has a RANGE of choices at his hand, and therefore, he is no longer stuck in one or another option, a classic problem of customer retention, and that many bookies suffer from famous LIFETIME of their consumer.
I couldn't write this article without talking about Bonuses. If some time ago the majority of gamblers went THIRTY in search of the famous, 100% up to 100, 200, 300 reaes, today even if they WANT, and take advantage, they start to READ the terms and conditions, and understand more and more what it is comply with ROLLOVER. That bonus encouraging the deposit, but then having to pay 20x in record time, no longer sticks like it used to.
What I want to say is that if the operator wants to be part of the first shelves, he needs to deliver what his avatar values, there is no point in assembling any product and shoving it down the throat, the competition raised the bar and the level of demand of this aquarium, which is so big, is starting to get bigger and bigger.
The Brazilian player has evolved, like the industry and here is a sample of how to serve him well.
A big hug!
