The Paraná Institute released this Wednesday (22) a survey on sports betting in Brazil that indicates that 55.2% of those interviewed are in favor of the federal government collecting taxes form companies of the sector. Another 27.9% is against it, while 16.9% did not know/did not give an opinion.
In addition, most respondents (63.9%) believe that there is manipulation of results to favor groups of bettors against bookmakers that operate in the Brazilian market. 36.1% do not think there is such a practice.
The survey points out that 85.5% have never placed a sports bets online. Only 14.5% of those interviewed indicated that they had already bet on these kind of platforms.
A total of 2,010 people were interviewed in 26 states of Brazil and the Federal District between March 15 and 18, 2023.
The estimated margin of error is 2.2 percentage points for the overall results. The main profiles in the sample were taken into account, such as gender, age group, education and economic level of the interviewees.
