Finance Commission will hear Fernando Haddad and bookmakers on sector regulation

The Finance and Taxation Committee of Brazil’s Chamber approved a public hearing to meet with the Finance Minister, Fernando Haddad, and operators of sports betting on the regulation of the activity in the country. Requested by Deputy Júnior Mano, the application had unanimous support from the members, including the Federal Revenue Secretary and a representative of Sorte Online.

The Chamber's Finance and Taxation Commission approved the request by Deputy Júnior Mano (PL-CE) for a public hearing with the presence of the Minister of Finance and other authorities, as well as representatives of bookmakers, to discuss the regulation of the sector in the Brazil.

Initially, the author of the request had suggested that, in addition to Haddad, can also be invited Marcos Barbosa Pinto, undersecretary for Economic Reforms, and José Francisco Manssur, adviser to the Executive Secretariat, as well as executives from Betano (Alexandre Fonseca, country manager Brasil), Galera.bet (Marcos Sabiá, CEO), VaideBet (José André da Rocha Neto, president) F12.Bet (Marcos Seiróz, partner) and others, such as bet365, Pixbet, Sportinget, MajorSports and Pingol.

The meeting included the Secretary of the Federal Revenue, Robson Barreirinhas, and a representative of Sorte Online, the betting site that offers Caixa's official lotteries.

Those present highlighted the importance of the activity in Brazil and the billions of reales that are not collected due to the lack of regulation of the sector in Brazil.

The hearing will take place as soon as Minister Fernando Haddad returns to Brazil after a trip to China with President Lula.
