In the fourth quarter of 2022, Loterias CAIXA collected R$ 7.2 billion (US$ 1.4b), an amount 28.1% higher than that calculated in the same period of the previous year. In the accumulated result for the year 2022, R$ 23.2 billion (US$ 4.5b)were collected, an increase of 25.6% compared to the year 2021.
Loterias CAIXA are an important source of funds to promote social development in Brazil. In the fourth quarter, R$ 2.8 billion (US$ 533m), equivalent to 38.6% of the total, were allocated to the Federal Government's social programs in the areas of social security, sports, culture, public safety, education and health, a figure of 27.1 % higher than that allocated in 4Q21, in addition to the return to society via income tax payments.
Caixa's net income was R$ 2.2 billion (US$ 419m) in 4Q22, against R$ 3.2 billion (US$ 610m) in 4Q21. In 2022, the result totaled R$ 9.8 billion (US$ 1.87b), a reduction of 43.4% compared to 2021.
Caixa also presented the value of R$ 111.4 billion (US$ 21.3b) in benefits from the Brazil Aid paid in 2022, growth of 345.7% compared to 2021.
