US$ 1.15m guaranteed prize pool for players

São Paulo stage of the Brazilian Poker Championship starts this Wednesday

Starting this Wednesday (29), the largest city in the country will host a new stage of the Brazilian Poker Championship, organized by the BSOP - Brazilian Series of Poker. The WTC Sheraton is the venue for the second event of the 2023 season, which takes place until April 4th. This stage has R$ 6 million (US$ 1.15m) as a guaranteed prize pool for players. The organization's expectation is R$ 10 million (US$ 1.9m) in total prize money.

At this stage the prizes are very interesting for the players. Over the 29 tournaments to be played, R$ 6 million (US$ 1.15m) are guaranteed as prize money for the event, including R$ 2.2 million (US$ 420k) for the Main Event (main tournament of each stage) and R$ 1 million (US$ 190k) for the High Rollers (event with the highest registration value of the stage).

The organization's forecast is that the total prize awarded exceeds the guaranteed amount and reaches around R$ 10 million (US$ 1.9m).

The Brazilian Poker Championship has attracted famous players to compete in its stages. Former player Edmundo, rapper ‘Gabriel o Pensador’, actress Cláudia Rodrigues and comedian Carioca were some of the BSOP participants in last season's editions in 2022.

The WTC Sheraton has been the main venue for national poker in Brazil. In addition to the traditional São Paulo stage at the beginning of the year, it also hosts the two main events of the Brazilian Poker Championship: the BSOP Winter Millions, in July; and the BSOP Millions, the biggest poker tournament in Latin America, in November - which in 2022 edition distributed more than R$ 46 million (US$ 8.8m) in prize money, a record amount.

The Brazilian Poker Championship takes place annually through stages held by the BSOP - Brazilian Series of Poker since 2006.

Today it is the biggest poker event in Latin America, having reached a record 4,161 participants in a 2021 tournament, a mark that accredited it to reach the status of the second largest poker tournament in the world.

The Championship is held in some of the best tourist destinations in Brazil and in some of the largest capitals in the country.
