Caixa Econômica Federal released the consolidated result for the fourth quarter of 2022 a few days ago and the performance of the state-owned bank guaranteed a net profit of R$ 9.8 billion (US$ 1.9b) last year.
Loterias CAIXA reached R$ 7.2 billion (US$ 1.4b) in the 4Q and an accumulated annual amount of R$ 23.2 billion (US$ 4.46b), growth of 25.6% compared to 2021.
The Mega-Sena, the modality preferred by Brazilians, accounted for no less than 47% of the total raised, reaching the figure of R$ 10.9 billion (US$ 2.1b).
The second most played lottery last year was Lotofácil, which reached R$ 6.6 billion (US$ 1.25b), which represented 28.3% of the collection. In third place on the podium, with 13.1% comes Quina, with R$ 3 billion (US$ 576m).
Social programs
Loterias CAIXA are an important source of funds to promote social development in Brazil. In the fourth quarter, R$ 2.8 billion (US$ 540m), equivalent to 38.6% of the total, were allocated to the Federal Government's social programs in the areas of social security, sports, culture, public safety, education and health, a figure of 27.1 % higher than that allocated in 4Q21, in addition to the return to society via income tax payments.
