SOFTSWISS will be in charge of moderating a panel at PGS 2023 in Lima

The Forum Peru Gaming Show 2023 will take place this week (March 8-9) in Lima, with the participation of important experts and executives from the main companies in the market. SOFTSWISS could not be absent and will be responsible for moderating the panel “Peru Law 31557, Regulation: Sports betting and remote games.”

An important panel moderated by SOFTSWISS that will deal with the regulation of sports betting in Peru will take place this Thursday (9), at the Hotel Pullman San Isidro, in Lima.

Jonathan Félix Vilchez, SOFTSWISS regional manager, will mediate the debate that will have the participation of Gonzalo Rosell (Apadela), Carlos Fonseca (Estudio Fonseca) and Andrea Rossi (Betsson). With more than 20 years of experience in the gaming sector in Latin America, Jonathan Félix will analyze, together with the other specialists, the current status of Law 31557, approved in the Peruvian Congress last year and which is being regulated by the Ministry of Tourism.

For Félix Vilchez, it is an especially important moment for the country to debate the industry's desires for the start of regulated operations in one of the Latin American countries that has been growing sustainably in the last five years, including during the covid-19 pandemic.
 


According to Jonathan Félix, “the approval of Law 31557 placed Peru as the fourth country in the region to regulate the activity, after Colombia, Panama and Argentina. The sector contributes with 0.7% of the national GDP and should reach 1.5% in the coming years. For this reason, our country has become one of the most attractive markets in the region and which, together with Brazil, represents an important destination for companies and global investors for the development of business in this market,” he said.

More than simply supporting regulation and moderating the panel, the executive highlighted that “like any regulatory process, there are some aspects that need adjustments for the consolidation, growth and maturation of the Peruvian market.”

“This event is very important for everyone to have a vision about the current market and the directions that the entry into force of the law that the sector will follow in the regulated industry,” he assured.
