Peru is taking important steps towards the regulation of online gaming and sports betting, whose law 31557 was approved by the Peruvian Congress. In June, the Peru Gaming Show will take place, but this week, an important seminar will precede the fair and will discuss the current stage and how the country is preparing for the start of the commercial exploitation of the activity.
The two-day meeting will feature two important panels. One of them, today (8), will have Responsible Gaming as its main topic, with the participation of Samer Atassi (Jumio), Luis Felipe Cornejo (SolBet) and Gonzalo Pérez (Apuesta Total). This debate will be moderated by GLI's VP for LatAm and the Caribbean Karen Sierra, who will share her knowledge on the subject with the whole audience.
On the second day, the panel “Peru Law 31557 – Regulation: Sports betting and online gaming”, will have the participation of Gonzalo Rosell (Apadela), Carlos Fonseca (Fonseca Studio) and Andrea Rossi (Betsson). Jonathan Félix, regional manager of SOFTSWISS and CEO of Global Business Company in Peru, will moderate the debate.
For the executive, who has long experience in the area of gambling throughout Latin America, the Peruvian market is increasingly attracting the attention of international players for “having been experiencing sustainable growth in the last five years, including during the coronavirus pandemic Covid-19, which demonstrates the strength of the country in this segment.”
The event will also feature presentations on the current situation of the Peruvian market, certification and homologation processes, recommendations for operating online gaming in Peru, challenges to combat fraud and comparison between the local market and other regulated jurisdictions.
An interesting presentation will discuss sports betting and online gaming as a competition or complement to the land-based sector. It will be carried out by Victor Arias, Vice President of LatAm operations at Pragmatic Play.
