The ban, which is determined by FIFA regulation, establishes that players and other club employees cannot place bets or that they advertise on social networks. In case of non-compliance, the person responsible will be fined according to the terms mentioned in the document sent by the club.
The case that generated the alert in Grêmio happened due to a post made by Ferreira on the eve of the confrontation against Caxias, valid for the first leg of the Gauchão finals.
The striker participated in a promotional action by Esportes da Sorte, which sponsors the club. In a note, the website stated that the post was intended to publicize Gauchão's decision. A similar statement was made by Ferreira's staff, also stating that the content was an advertising piece.
FIFA provides for a fine of "at least 100,000 Swiss francs" (R$ 550,000) and a ban from football for up to three years for players, referees and officials who place bets on football matches.
Advertising by bookmakers, however, is allowed in Brazil, despite the debate about the ethics of this type of action. England and Spain, for example, made this practice illegal.
