Deputy Sóstenes Cavalcante stated that the bench is against any project on the activity. “We are against any project about the gaming. Voting in favor [of the PM] would be electoral fraud,” he said.
The president of the Evangelical Parliamentary Front - made up of 135 deputies and 12 senators -, deputy Eli Borges, also said he was against gaming and said that the bench will take a position contrary to the Provisional Measure.
Deputy Marco Feliciano said that “deputies would not be able to explain to voters a vote in favor of the PM.” Still according to the parliamentarian, “today, this is the spirit of the bench.”
Last year, during the discussions to approve the regulatory framework for gaming in Brazil (Bill 442/91), the evangelical group tried to obstruct the work and only after numerous negotiations and exchange of favors, including exemption from IPTU for churches, did the group waived the obstruction and the project was approved.
