Loterj is opening sports betting operations within the state of Rio de Janeiro to the private sector. Exploration in a competitive environment will be in the accreditation modality, and the cost of the concession will be R$ 5 million (US$ 1m), for a period of five years.
In a recent interview with GMB, the president of Loterj, Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, stated that “Brazil is the new frontier for the lottery market and we are certain that we will attract the main global players in sports betting to Rio de Janeiro. The population of the state has already embraced the activity and operators will have a large market to work with.”
Sports betting in Rio de Janeiro will be granted to multiple operators in order to guarantee a healthy competitive market both for the players who qualify and for the State, which will have an important collection for the reinforcement of the public coffers for its social service actions.

The LOTTERY OF THE STATE OF RIO DE JANEIRO - LOTERJ makes public the Accreditation Notice No. 001/2023, detailed below:
OBJECT: The purpose of this Notice is the Accreditation of legal entities specialized in the development and exploitation of public lottery services, for a period of up to five years, within the territorial scope of the State of Rio de Janeiro, defining general criteria for commercial exploitation, in an environment virtual, with online access on a personal device or using a mobile application (Apps), web, VLT (video Lottery Terminal), POS (Point of Sales) or Terminals/Totems, exclusively in a competitive environment, of the Lottery Modality 'Fixed Odds Sports Betting, relating to real sports-themed events', provided for in current legislation.
