In October 2020, the government of Mendoza approved online gambling bill (Law 9,267) with online gambling initially expected before the start of the World Cup in Qatar. It was announced that priority would be given to gambling companies already present in the local market.
However, other companies including international operators could take part in the bidding process for the five available licences.
Last month the government created an Online Gaming Management department, which would work within the Provincial Institute of Games and Casinos (IPJyC). It will be responsible for the supervision and control of online gambling once it goes live in the province.
