Forbes released its annual “World’s Billionaires List”, and the global casino and gaming industries accounted for 24 of the 2,640 people in the 10-figure club. The combined net worth of the gambling tycoons amounts to US$ 117.3 billion, with Dr. Miriam Adelson, who inherited her fortune from her late husband Sheldon Adelson, founder of Las Vegas Sands, as the wealthiest magnate on the list.

Forbes’ 37th Annual World’s Billionaires List, which was published this week, features 24 individuals who have made their fortunes in the gambling industry.

The business media outlet said the world’s richest people are collectively worth US$12.2 trillion, a drop of about US$500 billion from the 2022 report. There are 28 fewer billionaires today than there was last year, too.

The majority of the individuals who made their fortunes through gambling businesses are from the United States, accounting for nine of the total. Japan and Hong Kong follow closely, with four and three billionaires, respectively. Sweden, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom each have two billionaires on the list.

The combined net worth of these 24 gambling tycoons amounts to US$117.3 billion.

Dr. Miriam Adelson, the widow of the late Sheldon Adelson, who founded Las Vegas Sands, remains the richest magnate whose wealth was primarily derived through gambling. Adelson has an estimated net worth of US$35 billion, up US$7.5 billion from a year ago. Adelson is the 35th-richest person on the planet.
