Corinthians schedules meeting with athletes to discuss betting and match-fixing

Corinthians scheduled for next Monday (15) a meeting with all the club's athletes, including professionals and youth categories. The event will be to talk about the manipulation schemes of football games that have been investigated in recent months by the Public Ministry of Goiás, in the so-called Maximum Penalty I and II operation.

The meeting will be attended by delegate Cesar Saad, from the Police Station for Repression and Analysis of Sports Intolerance Crimes (DRADE), and specialist in sports law Luiz Felipe Santoro.

The first conversation will be held with the professional squad of Corinthians and, subsequently, with athletes from the youth categories.

It is important to note that, so far, no athlete from Timão's current squad has been cited or denounced by the bodies responsible for the investigation.

A player who was loaned by Corinthians to Avaí, striker Nathan, was mentioned by bettors in excerpts of conversations obtained by the investigation.

Nathan would have received R$ 15,000 (US$ 3,030) to be warned with a yellow card in the match against Athletico-PR for the 26th round of the Brasileirão, but he was unable to comply with the agreement and returned the amount.
