GMB – Genius Sports is a highly technically capable global company in the area of sports integrity. I would like you to talk about this company's full potential.
Chris Dougan
– Genius Sports is an integrity partner of over 200 sports institutions around the world, including the Bundesliga, PGA Tour, Premier League and NFL, among others. They want to protect the integrity of sport and competitions, as well as entities, from match-fixing and corruption. Genius Sports collaborates with them to this end in educating their athletes, referees and coaches in monitoring real-time matches of all games, supporting competition policies and collaborating on suggestions for government regulations.

At this moment, Genius Sports is between the collection of data made at the edge of the court or pitch and the service provided to bookmakers. This monitoring, through AI, studies the performance of the match and the variation of odds and gives us indications whether or not there is something doubtful and that deviates from the standard so that we can alert the sports entities and work together in the risk management of the houses betting. This is a unique position that we managed to have within this entire ecosystem.

How to cover especially smaller leagues and championships and in countries little used to the issue of sporting integrity?
This is an education process that we carry out together with the leagues. We develop workshops and tools through applications so that athletes, coaches, referees and managers can be informed about what happens in the world in relation to match fixing and how to react to them. This can be done both for big leagues around the world and for smaller entities with less structure.

In our business model, when we partner with sports entities, we are responsible for collecting match data and this allows us to have real-time access to everything that is happening in the game and send this data to bookmakers. That's why we are able, no matter the size of the competition, to keep track of exactly what is being done in betting markets around the world. We believe that sports integrity has three pillars: education, monitoring and policies related to regulations and laws.

You cited AI as a suitable technology to deliver to the betting world. Is it consolidated?
Artificial intelligence has taken a leap in quality and efficiency within our betting monitoring operation as it is available 24/7, monitoring hundreds of games at the same time. It manages to create analysis patterns that generate alerts based on an intelligence that is being built. Just as AI makes a difference in other technologies like self-driving cars and ChatGPT, for betting monitoring it has made a big difference, faster and more efficiently. Artificial intelligence never sleeps or interrupts its activities to eat.

What is your assessment of the 2nd Brazilian Sports Integrity Summit?
It was an incredible and high-level event. We had the privilege of listening to an extremely high-quality debate involving leagues such as the LNB, athletes such as Diogo Silva and Marcus Vinícius, who was formerly with the COB, sports organizations, members of the Ministry of Sports, José Francisco Manssur, responsible for the editorial end of the Provisional Measure that regulates sports betting and other members of the Ministry of Finance.

It was a rich debate that has everything to do with the moment the country is going through in relation to these match-fixing scandals.
