The crisis in Brazilian football generated by allegations of match-fixing in the Brasileirão continues to cause discussions on the subject, and they also involve the coaches of the clubs that were mentioned in the process. They are acting fast and removing athletes who have been implicated in illegal practices.
"It's a subject that deserves the utmost seriousness, and whoever participated has to be punished, but not expelled from the activity. Punished as a person who makes mistakes, but not determine the end of anyone's life. It's something that if we knew, we could do something in the preventive sense, but we have to be very rigorous. It is a damage to football and a very ugly thing," said Fernando Diniz.
Fluminense had midfielder Nathan, who played for the club in 2022, quoted in the investigation. Defender Vitor Mendes, who arrived this season, has been removed since last week after having his name mentioned in the process.
Other clubs are doing the same with players who were named under Operation Maximum Penalty.
