CPI will hear members of the Justice of Goiás and Vila Nova president in public hearing

On Tuesday (30) this week, the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on Manipulation in Football will hold a public hearing to discuss Operation Maximum Penalty, conducted by the Public Ministry of Goiás. The main authorities of the State Justice and the president of Vila Nova, Hugo Jorge Bravo, author of the complaint, have already confirmed their presence.

Investigations began at the end of last year after a complaint made by the president of Vila Nova and have already resulted in some preventive arrests.

According to Deputy Danilo Forte (União-CE), author of two requests for the public hearing, Operation Maximum Penalty represents a new milestone in the fight against match-fixing and the betting scheme in Brazilian football.

Other parliamentarians, such as Ricardo Ayres (Republicanos-TO), Márcio Marinho (Republicanos-BA), Fred Costa (Patriota-MG), Albuquerque (Republicanos-RR) and Beto Pereira (PSDB-MS), also submitted requests to participate in the debate.

This Tuesday's session will begin at 2:30 pm in Plenary 9. The following were invited to the hearing and have already confirmed their presence:

  • Cyro Terra Peres, Attorney General of the Public Ministry of the State of Goiás (MPGO);
     
  • Fernando Cesconetto, Public Prosecutor of the Public Ministry of the State of Goiás (MPGO);
     
  • Hugo Jorge Bravo, president of Vila Nova Futebol Clube.


The commission will also vote on some of the requests presented by the members of the CPI.
