The parliamentarians criticized the STF's decision to grant habeas corpus so that Eduardo Bauermann, defender of Santos, was released from testifying. For deputies, this type of decision prevents the CPI from better understanding the whole process that involves the manipulation of results in football.

After such decisions, the president of the CPI, Julio Arcoverde (PP-PI), opened the public hearing to hear sports, refereeing and athlete officials on the topic “Manipulation of results in the State of Goiás.” Everyone was unanimous in stating that football needs to be protected against match-fixing and that everyone takes guidance actions to combat the practice.
The president of the Goiás Football Federation, Ronei Ferreira de Freitas, made it clear that the work developed by the entity involves all categories and the FGF conducts guidance campaigns.
“These discussions are very important for Brazilian football and especially for Goiás. I suggest that we regulate sports betting, which would help federations, entities and football clubs,” defended Ronei de Freitas.
The athletes' representative, Júlio César Garcias, stated that he has always sought to work seriously and in line with the way in which the Goiás Football Federation operates.
