GMB - Banktech is a fintech authorized by the Central Bank of Brazil with more than ten years of experience in the financial market, specializing in local payment operations and for Forex brokers. What was it like to reach a leading position in a segment as competitive as the payment method?
Julio Cesar Vieira de Jesus Junior - We reached this position after many years of hard work, and always relying on technology professionals with experience in the financial market, and for the experience gained both in the international Forex market and in the local payday market in Brazil.
We also believe that the partnership with financial institutions and several other fintechs helped this process, because in this way we become multi gateway, operating in an agnostic way and in an integrative model within the financial market, where even competitors become our indirect partners.
What are Banktech's differentials in this segment?
High technology for integrations from one to millions of transactions quickly and securely. Another differential is the service with the possibility of customizing the payment system and the use of more than one financial institution, guaranteeing expansion to customers of sending and receiving high volumes with the lowest rates on the market.
Another differential is that we have already established partnerships with several software companies in this market, which means that several companies already have our native solution in their systems.
What led the partners to embark on gambling?
We realized how much this market would grow in Brazil, and we had a lot of demand from software companies outside Brazil that provide services for iGaming, betting and other gambling companies.
All sought to overcome the challenges of progressive compliance that would not impede the receipt of high volumes from their customers in Brazil, so that there was operational anti-fraud security. Another objective of these companies was to have lower intermediation fees for the pix, and other means of payment, which was already a differential of our online gateway.
Are there similarities between the online gaming industry and the financial and Forex trading system?
They are practically the same markets in terms of the challenges and needs of customers, both in relation to progressive compliance, as well as in relation to lower intermediation fees, as well as the challenge of international remittances, and the use of APIS to integrate systems in the platforms in an agile way by the IT team of the companies.
How long have you been working on this entry project into the gaming industry?
We have been serving some software companies in this segment for more than two years and we realized that we could act with greater focus and due to the growth of the sector in Brazil, we aim to expand our technology by supplying this new nascent market, but with all our expertise of more than a decade.
And how has the market responded to a new player in the payment method segment?
We are growing vertiginously every month, due to the high demand of the segment that looks for good progressive compliance, security for its end customers, redundancy of financial institutions that we have to guarantee high daily transactional volumes, and mainly the availability of high technology and low fees when compared to other means of payment players that supply the segment today.
We already have more than US$ 20 million transacted annually, which generates a lot of credibility in the market.
How to distinguish yourself from the competition?
Our focus is on providing the lowest cost of fees, and best availability of daily transactional volumes to gambling companies. Our focus is entirely on wholesale, operating with high volumes and providing more than one financial institution for operation.
Competitors, in a way, also use our service as partners, and together, by bringing together the volumes, we are able to serve the entire financial market.
Is Banktech's payment system integration agile and fast?
Very agile and fast, in addition to the support team we offer, we have a fully documented API and homologation environments, with a variety of languages and microservice solutions. We are a tech company, operating in the financial market with a fully digital DNA.
What can sports betting operators expect from Banktech in this regard?
Operators can expect to use the gateway more economically in relation to their fees, and in this sense they can expect the best negotiations on the market.
Progressive compliance onboarding, easy implementation of connectivity between systems via API, more affordable rates and ease of support and operation in various payment methods.
The Brazilian payment system is complex. Are you prepared to enter the iGaming sector with tools that meet both the Central Bank's regulatory requirements and the operators' requirements?
Since we have existed for more than 10 years as a technology company and in the last five as a fintech company, we are already in compliance with the main requirements of the regulator, and we operate through normative instruction, by law 12.865 of October 9, 2013, serving as an institution of payments all the requirements of the Central Bank of Brazil.
We also have partnerships with institutions in compliance with the regulations of the 4656 direct credit societies, regulations established in 2018 by Bacen and thus we can operate on several fronts, being fully prepared in terms of regulation and already active for several years.
Brazil is going through uncertainties regarding the direction that the regulation of sports betting will take. How do you see this current moment and what are your expectations regarding the regulation of the sector?
Our expectation is that precisely this historical moment favors further growth in an orderly manner in the sector in Brazil, guaranteeing perpetuity and we are optimistic that our technological operation is all thought and designed to meet compliance models.
