“Brazil is often seen as a continent in and of itself in relation to the iGaming industry; the sheer size of the country, it’s vast cultural richness and diversity, coupled also with the Brazilian people’s level of interest in sport & sports betting.
With regulation comes vast change and equally opportunity. In terms of recruitment, we have witnessed the growth of both operators and suppliers who are interested or indeed growing their businesses in Brazil. Interestingly, it must be said that in the main this has been done by hiring a more “local” workforce than ever before. No longer is it the case that hiring staff in the UK, South Africa, Malta, Portugal, or Montevideo for example, is the sole hiring locations of companies focused in this area. True that this may impart be as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, but I firmly believe that regulation has been the main catalyst.
What I do also believe is that in looking at Brazil, it also opens the doors and the eyes of executives or individuals within companies directly to other countries within the Latin American market. For example, as a consequence of moving into Brazil, you then see it naturally follows that interest turns towards Mexico, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Colombia.
