Brazil’s National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) will launch next Monday (19), a list of ten integrity measures to be followed by sports betting operators. The objective is to strengthen the good practices already adopted by the sector, contributing to the mitigation of possible new actions to manipulate results by mafias, such as those recently revealed in investigations by the Public Ministry of Goiás.
According to the president of the ANJL, Wesley Cardia, “the sports betting operators that work for the regulation of the sector have been looking for all the ways to improve the system in order to prevent bandits from taking advantage of the bookmakers, football and bettors.”
Ten integrity measures to be adopted by sports betting operators:
1. Adopt, as one of its main objectives, constant attitudes aimed at commitment to the development of integrity in sport;
2. Prioritize the creation and development of partnerships with third parties active in the application and development of integrity in sport;
3. Adopt awareness and education actions on combating match-fixing;
4. Adopt transparent and pre-established procedures for identifying, investigating and sending reports to the authorities on suspected situations of match-fixing and illegal betting;
5. Be committed to communicating to the competent entities about the unusual and suspected activities of fraud or money laundering that occurred on the operator's platforms, websites and/or applications;
6. Implement and publicize a reporting channel, open to society, to record cases of suspected match-fixing;
7. Control the availability of sports betting products based on risk assessment;
8. Establish strategic partnerships with recognized companies in the practice of monitoring sports integrity;
9. Not to make the sports betting service available to sports leaders, sports technicians, coaches, sports practitioners, professionals and amateurs, judges, referees, sports entrepreneurs and those responsible for organizing entities of sports competitions and events and for competitions and horse races subject to bets, when, directly or indirectly, they have or may have any intervention in the outcome of the events;
10. Be committed to protecting minors and vulnerable people – such as those susceptible to addictions –, aiming at the unavailability of the betting service and/or marketing actions for this public.
Launched in March 2023, the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) defends the interests of its members, the sector and responsible and honest gambling, always guided by the promotion of sports, betting security and contributing to the country's economic development.
Members include GaleraBet/PlayTech, Kaizen, Betano, Hebara, F12, PagBet, BetNacional, Mr. Jack, Primtemps, BetFast, Aposta Ganha, Leadership Capitalization and Parimatch.
