Ferj excludes three clubs from Série C in Rio’s championship for evidence of match-fixing

The Rio de Janeiro Football Federation - FERJ excluded three times from Série C of the Carioca Championship due to strong indications of manipulation of the results. The entity with services of Sportradar, a sports betting monitoring company whose clients are FIFA, Conmebol and CBF, prevents Clube de Futebol São José Ltda, IQSL Brasileirinho Clube Social and Duque Caxiense Futebol Clube from playing in the tournament.

Ferj's decision is in the Presidency's Resolution published this Monday (19). Besides the exclusion of the clubs, the entity also suspends the registration of all the athletes involved in the matches between the two clubs.

The document talks about "abnormalities characterized in the development and results of the matches" discovered from "monitoring reports and movement of bets linked to the games" of these clubs.

The decision was taken on the basis of article 4 of the Ferj statute, which states that the entity is responsible for "maintaining sporting order and ensuring the discipline of football practice in football practice entities, as well as preventing certain methods or practices from jeopardizing doubts the integrity of the matches." Everyone involved has the right to appeal.

Ferj has the services of Sportradar, a sports betting monitoring company whose clients are FIFA, Conmebol and CBF. In addition, the entity promotes the filming of games in its championships to document possible misconduct.

All reports and evidence obtained by the federation were forwarded to Jecrim (Special Criminal Court), to be forwarded to the appropriate authorities, to the Court of Sports Justice of Rio (TJD-RJ) and to the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD).

Throughout Serie C, which will have its last round held next weekend, Ferj received reports that pointed to abnormalities in the betting of matches involving these clubs. On the pitch, they accumulated results that were also unusual. The most striking of them occurred last weekend, when São José lost 11-0 to Zinzane. A week earlier, Duque Caxiense was defeated 7-0 by Tigres.
