The CPI on match-fixing in football seeks to understand the current stage of the sports betting regulation and taxation process in Brazil to find out how the regulation will curb the practice of illegalities by athletes.
To this end, it will hold a public hearing on Tuesday (27th), at 2:30 pm with the theme “Legality, taxation and regulation of sports betting”. The president of the Central Bank of Brazil, Roberto Campos Neto; the secretary of the Federal Revenue, Robson Sakiyama Barrreirinhas; the national consumer secretary, Wadih Nemer Damous Filho; and the special secretary of the Ministry of Finance, José Francisco Manssur, were invited to the meeting.
The debate, still with a format not fully defined, will be divided into two tables. The collegiate is still awaiting confirmation of the presence of the guests for the public hearing.
The CPI would have a meeting this Wednesday (21st), which was canceled at the last minute.
Next Tuesday (27th), it resumes voting on 22 requests for invitation and/or summons, in addition to three requests for information, one of which is for the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, to report on the regulation of Law 13,756, which legalized sports betting in Brazil.
