At the same time, at the headquarters of the Executive in RS, deputy Claudio Branchieri spoke of the strength of the segment in a meeting with secretaries.

The sports betting sector has been attracting the attention of Rio Grande do Sul. The State, in search of new investments, has sought to closely monitor the movements in favor of regulating the sector at the federal level and sought to better understand the activity to attract companies to Rio Grande do Sul and analyzing ways to regulate the activity in the state.

This Monday (26), the Legislative Assembly held a new meeting of the Subcommittee for the Regulation of Sports Betting, when it received Wesley Cardia, CEO of ANLJ – National Association of Games and Lotteries.

At the public hearing, the manager stated, to the surprise of those present, that currently there are more than 4,000 bookmakers operating in Brazil. According to Cardia, the lack of regulation causes betting sites to proliferate.

“There are already more than 4,000 sites and it grows every day. If we, during a coffee break, want to put a website online, we will have one by the end of the day, because it is easy to set up,” he warned when defending the regulation of the activity to guarantee the safety of players.

At the Executive office

Member of the subcommittee, Deputy Prof. Claudio Branchieri was in a meeting with state secretaries at the Executive headquarters to discuss the iGaming sector and its growth in Brazil.

He was received by the secretaries of Innovation, Science and Technology; Planning, Governance and Management, Partnerships and Concessions and the Chief of Staff.

He narrated his visit to BiS SiGMA Americas, in São Paulo, where he accompanied panels that dealt with the activity, as well as attended several meetings and conversations with businessmen interested in investing in the state.

“We are talking about a multibillion-dollar industry, with income generation and highly complex services. We have here in the State, through our universities, full capacity to provide the manpower that these companies need to come here, with all the qualification framework they need,” said the deputy at the meeting.

For him, it is important for the state government to “study the possibilities and outline actions to take the lead in attracting investment.”
