Last CPI meeting approves invitations to hear associations, government and bookmakers

At the last meeting of the Parliamentary Commission of Investigation (CPI) that investigates match-fixing in football, deputies approved the requests for representatives of the IBJL, ANJL and IBIA, members of the government, Public Ministry, referees and bookmakers EstrelaBet and PixBet to be heard. Commission’s president, Julio Arcoverde, scheduled the resumption of work for August 2nd.

The CPI on match-fixing met this Wednesday (12th), to vote on 33 requests. In a quick session, the collegiate approved the change of some of them for invitation, keeping only the one of Ernildo Júnior partner of Pixbet, as summoned. In replacement of João Gerçossimo, CEO of EstrelaBet, the board approved the name of Fellipe Fraga, business director to be heard.

The deputies approved the invitation to be heard:

  • André Gelfi – Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming
  • Wesley Cardia – ANJL - National Association of Games and Lotteries
  • Khalid Ali – IBIA - International Betting Integrity Association
  • Ernildo Júnior – Pixbet (summoned)
  • Fellipe Fraga – EstrelaBet (replacing João Gerçossimo)
  • Alencar da Silveira – America-MG
  • Wilson Seneme – CBF Referee Commission
  • Wladimyr Camargos – Ministry of Finance
  • José Francisco Manssur – Ministry of Finance (responsible for drafting the regulation of sports betting in Brazil)
  • Ricardo Gazel – Movimento Brasil sem Azar

The list of guests is completed by 14 players and former footballers, duly named, in addition to athletes from the Iranduba team, from the Amazonense Football Championship, as well as referees who officiated games identified as having been manipulated.

The parliamentarians also approved the requests information from the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, on the draft regulation of Law 13.756/18 that legalized sports betting in Brazil, and from the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Federal District and the Defraudation Office of the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro.

CPI-FUTE meets again after the parliamentary recess, on August 2 at 2:30 pm.
