Innovative social project by StarScout with Betsson support aims to encourage women's football

With the start of the World Cup this July 20th, and in order to promote women's football as a whole, StarScout carried out a social project aimed exclusively at women, which aims to give visibility to the football sector, along with support from Betsson, one of the biggest sports betting sites.

For 30 days, StarScout embarked on a journey through Brazil, in search of great athletes who want to play professionally. The competition followed 16 young girls, between 18 and 25 years old, who will be able to work professionally, with the guarantee of a contract, salary, agency, moving costs, adaptation to the new language, as well as housing and the opportunity to change their lives.

The championship final took place on Saturday, 07/15, at Arena Barueri, and received scouts from Brazilian teams to observe the development of the girls.

To celebrate the participants and this social initiative, former professional player Zé Roberto, global ambassador of Betsson, received the girls at his home for a personalized training session. In addition to activities on the pitch, Zé showed his collection of trophies and told a little about his stories at each club he played for. To end the experience, the former player also provided a lunch with all the athletes and presented each one with a book, which he intends to launch by the end of this year.

“We are immensely happy to be able to support a project of extreme importance. Many of these young women are unable to dedicate themselves fully to training due to the need for a second income, since women's football still does not have the same recognition as men's. Our goal is to offer opportunities for all of them, encouraging more and more women's sport,” says Andre Gelfi, Managing Partner of Betsson.

All sports equipment used during the program will be donated to the ‘Playlife do Vidigal’ project, based in Rio de Janeiro. Additionally, evaluated athletes will still have the opportunity to take home all the performance data collected, in addition to future videos and souvenir photos.

The action will turn into a reality documentary with episodes of 30 minutes each, available from October to the public on YouTube and on the Woohoo platform, a subscription TV channel focused on action sports, music and behavior young.

The StartScout project came about with the initiative to seek new Brazilian players to become professionals in Europe. In addition, the program has partnered with American universities to offer scholarships to athletes. At the end of the program, a draft will be held where the selected players will receive their proposals.

The focus of this first edition is the social cause. Through a documentary visual language, it aims to show the difficulties that women have in the pursuit of the dream of being a professional soccer player. The program is scheduled to premiere in October this year.
