The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), who pledged all his personal and political prestige to approve last year the regulatory framework for gaming in Brazil (Bill 442/91), said this Monday (24th), that the Chamber will approve “as soon as possible the regulation of sports betting.”
The process, stopped at the Civil House and ready to be signed by President Lula, according to Lira, will be accepted in a republican way for the good of the country.
At an event with businessmen, the president of the Chamber of Deputies said that the House's obligation is to work for the economic development of Brazil and that the regulation of sports betting will bring many benefits.
“It is clear that Brazil cannot give up this revenue, it is obvious that things happen in Brazil and we all see it,” said Lira to journalists after a meeting with businessmen, in São Paulo.
For him, the regulation of sports betting “will contribute a lot to Brazil, because you regulate it, you make it official, you generate direct employment and you pay taxes.”
Lira also mentioned the commitment to the approval of Bill 442/91, which legalizes the gaming sector in Brazil as measures to boost the economy in the country.
“There are bicho, bingo, casino, all types of gaming that the Chamber has already voted on, the regulation has been in the Senate for over a year,” he said, referring to the Bill for the sector.
