Playmaker’s largest audience market of Brazil progresses towards sports betting regulation

Playmaker Capital, the digital sports media company that delivers authentic content experiences through its portfolio of sports media brands, announced its support of Brazil’s decision to formally sign the Provisional Measure (PM) that will regulate sports betting in the country. Brazil is Playmaker’s largest and most engaged audience in Latin America.

Effective immediately, the executive order will initiate the taxation of sports betting operators’ revenue generated in Brazil, resulting in a safe and competitive sports betting market in Latin America's most populous country.

Per Similarweb data, Brazil was the number one ranked country for sports betting related web visits between January 2021 and October 2022, representing approximately 10.5% of the world’s traffic share for the category.2 With interest in sports betting continuing to gain momentum in Brazil, the country has the potential to become one of the largest sports betting markets globally.
