CAIXA boosts Brazilian sport and provides unique opportunities for athletes, from junior to high performance. With the proximity of the Paris 2024 Olympics, which are a year away from being held, the countdown tightens and anxiety increases.
CAIXA's sponsorship goes beyond supporting competitors. With an ongoing commitment, the institution plays a fundamental role in the growth and success of Brazilian sport, as reinforced by the national superintendent of sponsorship, events and promotion, Ana Luiza Fraga.
“As a consequence of this constant and uninterrupted way that CAIXA supports Brazilian sport, we can say that the bank does not sponsor just one modality, but also cycles and cycles of record holders, talents, idols, and encourages a chain of training not only for athletes, but citizens.”
Ana Fraga exemplifies her speech with facts. “While Clodoaldo Silva broke swimming records at the 2004 Paralympic Games, Phelipe Rodrigues was a 14-year-old teenager and Gabrielzinho was a two-year-old baby. Today, almost 20 years later, the two are Paralympic medalists in swimming and big names in world parasports,” she celebrates.
And it doesn't end there. “In gymnastics, Rebeca Andrade participated in youth competitions sponsored by CAIXA back in 2009, 12 years before becoming the first Brazilian to win two medals in one edition of the Olympic Games. And during all this time, CAIXA was on the side of the committee and the confederations, as a sponsor.”
The benefits of this successful partnership between CAIXA and Brazilian sport are reflected in achievements for the country as a whole, as the appreciation of sports potential directly contributes to winning medals and to human development and social transformation. Find out now how this transformative partnership happens.
Numbers speak for themselves: the legacy of CAIXA's investments in sport
Since 1988, CAIXA has invested in sports, starting with the sponsorship of the Brazilian Athletics Team. Over the past 22 years, approximately R$698 million (US$ 147m) has been allocated to support various sports. The Brazilian Athletics Confederations (CBAt), Gymnastics (CBG) and the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) were some of the main entities benefited.
These investments directly impacted the lives of 148,000 people, including high-performance athletes and young talents. In addition, CAIXA promoted the development of sports activities in 92 social centers and 20 centers of excellence throughout Brazil.
One of the expressive results of this support is the evolution of sports performance in Brazil. In the Paralympics, for example, in the year 2000, we occupied the 24th position in the general table of medals, with 22 decorations won. In the 2020 Games, we rose to 7th place, with a total of 72 medals.
In 25 editions of the Olympics in which Athletics performed without CAIXA sponsorship, the modality won an average of less than a medal every two games. After bank sponsorship, the average is more than one medal per competition, there are already nine achievements in seven editions.
Gymnastics also had a leap in achievements with the support of CAIXA. Before the sponsorship, in 28 editions of the Olympic Games, the modality had never won a medal. From the sponsorship, the Olympic medals began to arrive.
These results show the importance of CAIXA's sponsorship in Brazilian sport. Targeted investment boosts athletes' performance and contributes to social development through sport. With a total investment of R$698 million (US$ 147m), the institution demonstrates its fundamental role in the country's development.
