CPI to hear from Sportradar VP Tom Mace on match-fixing detection tools

The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the Chamber of Deputies that investigates match-fixing in Brazilian football will hear this Wednesday (5th) the vice-president of Sportradar, Tom Mace, about the tools adopted by the company to detect fraud in the sport. The request is from Deputy André Figueiredo.

The CPI-FUTE board has been requesting in virtually all meetings that Sportradar be heard to clarify how attempts to manipulate results in sport are detected and, now, the presence of Tom Mace, Senior Vice President of Global Operations and Integrity Services of the company is confirmed.

The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday (5th), at 2:30 pm.

Recently, the CPI's rapporteur, Felipe Carreras (PSB-PE), stated that Sportradar provides services to several sports entities and bookmakers, and that its presence at the CPI-FUTE would be of great value for parliamentarians to understand the tools adopted by the company to detect manipulation of results.

Carreras recalled that “it was Sportradar that said that Brazil is the country where there is the greatest evidence of match-fixing in the world. It is something that is extremely worrying,” he declared.

When stating that it would be called, he said that "Sportradar is on our radar", associating the name of the global data analysis company with the fact that the CPI was very interested in hearing what the company has to say in order to contribute to the investigations carried out by the collegiate.

This Tuesday (4th), the CPI has its ordinary meeting also scheduled for 2:30 pm, when it will vote on other requests for invitation and summoning of persons who may clarify the commission on match-fixing activities.

Regarding the hearing of sports betting houses operating in Brazil, deputy Felipe Carreras said that they “will be called at the right time and defined by the collegiate.”
