The topic is on the rise in academic discussions and is super current. Last Tuesday (25th), Provisional Measure (PM) 1.182/23, which regulates sports betting in Brazil, was published in the Official Gazette (DOU).
As of publication, the rules of the text are already in force, but need to be analyzed and countersigned by the National Congress within 120 days so as not to lose validity.
The panel of the seminar will be composed by Tiago Horta Barbosa, specialist in sports law, auditor of the Anti-Doping Court of Justice (TJD-AD) and member of the Committee for the Defense of Fair Play of the COB; Udo Seckelman, gambling expert; and Fred Justo, investigative journalist and integrity consultant.
As will be done in the postgraduate course in sports law at Verbo Jurídico and Lei em Campo, the seminar will be coordinated by Felippe Marchetti and Ana Mizutori.
They highlighted the current situation and the need to discuss the issue of sports betting in the context of sports law.
"Due to the novelty and complexity of the theme, Verbo organizes this event in order to clarify some important points from the perspective of three references in the theme in Latin America: Tiago Horta, Fred Justo and Udo Selckmann," says Felippe Marchetti.
