Senator Romário, president of the Senate Sport Commission, submitted a request for the collegiate to discuss the manipulation of results in sport, in view of Operation Maximum Penalty I and II, launched by the Public Ministry of Goiás.
The MP-GO operation and the complaints presented by the president of Vila Nova were the reasons that led the Chamber of Deputies to install a CPI to investigate the criminal practice, which has until September to prepare its report and propose measures to curb the practice.
In the Senate, the Sports Commission meets this Wednesday (5th), when it will put Romário's request and four others to a vote, one of them to discuss the employment relationship between referees and federations and another to debate racism in a public hearing.
“The growing expansion of the sports betting market and the need to guarantee transparency, legality and the fight against illicit practices leave no doubt about the importance of promoting a broad and in-depth debate on these issues, involving representatives of sports institutions, government authorities, companies in the sector, specialists and other interested parties,” justifies Romário, who chairs the collegiate.
