CPI on match-fixing is extended for 60 days, approves hearings from payment method firms

The Parliamentary Commission of Investigation (CPI) that investigates match-fixing in Brazilian football approved, this Wednesday (16th), the extension of the work for 60 days. In addition, the board decided to listen to payment method companies for the sports betting sector, such as Pagsmile and Pixpay.

The CPI that investigates match-fixing in football approved, at its meeting that took place on Wednesday (16th) this week, the extension of the operating period for another 60 days, which will be presented to the Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies and will last until November 13th.

“We have to listen to some actors that, both the rapporteur and the president, deem of great importance to finalize the CPI, such as betting operators, and Sportradar, which is a company contracted by FIFA, by CBF, by various entities and members of arbitration,” justified Deputy Júlio Arcoverde, chairman of the committee and author of the extension request.

Another 12 requests were approved at the meeting, including an invitation for lawyer Roberto Brasil Fernandes to be heard by the OAB, to present information about the sector to the CPI, as well as representatives of payment methods companies Pagsmile and Pixpay.

The board, once again, voted to invite Andreas Krannich from Sportradar Integrity Services to be heard, as well as the call for players Thonny Anderson, Alef Manga and Nino Paraíba.

CPI members approved the requirements for the Ministry of Finance, the Council for the Control of Financial Activities (Coaf), the Federal Police and the Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, to provide information on matters inherent to their attributions.

There was no time to discuss requests to call representatives of Pay4Fun, Paybrokers, Iugu, Adyen and Remessa Online, companies providing payment method services for the sports betting sector.
