Caixa is imposed a preventive measure against discrediting lottery intermediaries

Based on a representation sent by the Association of Digital Intermediaries of Lottery Games (AIDIGLOT), the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) imposed a preventive measure to prevent Caixa Econômica Federal and the Brazilian Federation of Lottery Companies (Febralot) from applying any type of sanctions or even attribute illegality to the activities of lottery game intermediation platforms.

“The decision is an important milestone in favor of the sector, especially because it avoids misunderstandings with the final public in relation to the suitability of the services provided by online game intermediaries,” says the president of AIDIGLOT, Mirko Mayeroff.

The decision of the General Superintendence of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (SG/CADE) in favor of the Association of Digital Intermediaries of Lottery Games (AIDIGLOT) was taken on behalf of AIDIGLOT to prevent Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF) and Brazilian Federation of Lottery Companies (Febralot) apply any type of sanctions or even attribute illegality to the activities of lottery game intermediation platforms.

The determination requires that both CEF and Febralot stop actions that prevent the operation or discredit the performance of the intermediary companies, including removing all communication that attributes an illegal nature to the economic activity carried out by intermediation platforms for lottery games.

Caixa must also disclose the decision on its website and communicate it, in writing, to the lottery retailers.

In addition, sanctions previously applied to lottery retailers that establish partnerships with intermediation platforms are prohibited.

According to the SG/CADE, the intention is to guarantee the maintenance of the competitive environment during the investigation of infractions to the economic order in the lottery gaming market.
