Caixa Econômica Federal is making a strong return to Brazilian sport. A little over a month ago, it signed a sponsorship contract with the Women's Basketball League.
And now, Caixa has just closed a master sponsorship with the National Basketball League for Novo Basquete Brasil, the sport's main championship.
In addition, the state bank will hold the naming rights of the competition, which will be renamed NBB Caixa.
Former NBB partner, Caixa sponsored the National Basketball League from 2016 to 2020, interrupting the agreement due to the covid-19 pandemic, which suspended the traditional basketball championship.
NBB Caixa starts in October and will have 19 teams competing for the most coveted trophy in Brazilian basketball. The championship is in its 16th edition. The regular phase will be round-the-clock, followed by playoffs with 16 teams playing a best-of-three series in the round of 16. From the quarterfinals onwards, best-of-five series will define who advances. The NBB Caixa champion will be known in June 2024.
