Caixa confirms more than US$14 million in sponsorship deals in Brazilian sport

Caixa Econômica Federal and Loterias CAIXA announced during an event in São Paulo a total of R$68.3 million (US$ 14m) in sponsorships for Brazilian sports. In addition to renewing the contract with the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB), the bank entered into a partnership with the National Basketball League (LNB) and will continue to support the Brazilian Athletics Confederation.

Caixa's president, Rita Serrano, highlighted the bank's importance as the main supporter of Brazilian sport and para-sports: “Today's announcements demonstrate Caixa's commitment to Brazilian sport. Not only that: in addition to generating jobs and income, the bank's support opens up opportunities for children and adults to find in sport a possibility of a better and healthier life.”

The amounts to be invested in Brazilian sport will be divided between Caixa Econômica Federal and Loterias CAIXA. The total contribution reaches R$68.3 million (US$ 14m) in sponsorships.

On the occasion, the exhibition “20 Extraordinary Years” was also opened, which celebrates the bank's two decades of sponsorship of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) and that will take place in all seven CAIXA Cultural units in the country: Brasília, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo.

The exhibition brings together sensory works that generate experiences of inclusion for the public, in addition to the CPB photographic collection. Visitation is free and runs until October 8th in all seven Caixa Cultural units.

In addition to the exhibition, activities will be held for children with disabilities and their families, which can be scheduled on the website Caixacultural.gov.br, where it is possible to access the entire program.

Basketball

For the National Basketball League, Caixa signed a master sponsorship for Novo Basquete Brasil, the sport's main championship, as well as the state bank will hold the naming rights of the competition, which will be renamed NBB Caixa.

The bank sponsored the entity from 2016 to 2020, suspending the agreement due to the covid-19 pandemic, which interrupted all competitions in the sport. The value of the new contract is R$ 9.3 million (US$ 1.9m).

The championship starts on October 21st and will have 19 teams competing for the most coveted trophy in Brazilian basketball. The tournament runs until June 2024 and will be widely covered by the Brazilian sports media.

Athletics

For the Brazilian Athletics Confederation, Caixa reserved R$ 24 million (US$ 4.95m), through Loterias CAIXA, for the renewal of the contract, which completes 22 years and now runs until February 2025.

In addition to subsidizing the preparation of Brazilian athletes for national and international competitions, sponsorship enables social project actions and continued education in partnership with schools and social centers.
