Composed of photographs, artistic installations, video testimonials, historical narrations and tactile illustrations, the exhibition aims to convey national pride to Paralympic athletes and give visibility to the sport. The exhibition has accessibility as a premise and features tactile floors, subtitles, Braille, sensory resources such as textures, aromas and audio.
Working with movements and sensations, the exhibition has an interactive area, in which visitors can experience emotions similar to those that athletes feel on the tracks, courts and swimming pools. Among the works, highlight for the bass drums played by the public that emit not only sound, but vibrations perceived even by people with hearing impairment.
Further on, visitors walk through a “forest of medals”, and by the sounds of their beats, colors and even smells, they are referred to the victories that the country has already conquered. Another highlight is the wall of photographs of the 2020 Paralympic Games taken by João Maia, a blind photographer who covered the event.
In addition to the exhibition, the Educative Gente Arteira Program presents an agenda of activities for people with disabilities and their families, and mediated visits for groups in which dialogue is guided by diversity and inclusion.
